Dubmire Primary Academy

P.E. and sport premium funding

The award for Dubmire in 19/20 is £19270.00 and the priorities are captured in the PE plan

The seven government priorities for the use of the Sports Premium Funding is as follows:

  • Achieving high quality P.E.
  • Increasing participation and inclusion
  • Promoting healthy, active lifestyles
  • Providing competitive school sport
  • Developing leadership, the curriculum and subject profile
  • Contributing to pupils’ overall achievement
  • Developing partnerships

At Dubmire Primary Academy we believe that physical activity is fundamental to a child’s development not only helping them to be competent in basic movements and co-ordination but also laying the foundation of academic skills. At Dubmire we use the Real PE syllabus and objectives as we believe that physical activity needs to be embedded into daily routines, therefore linking physical activity into our environments and every day skills. Early physical activity is crucial in setting foundations for basic motor skills and becoming physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.

Regular physical activity can improve quality of life, improve health, promote social inclusion, raise individual self-esteem and confidence and counter anti-social behaviour. School plays a key role in promoting an active lifestyle for its young people through developing attitudes, knowledge and competence to help encourage a commitment to physical activity.
