At Dubmire. Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) is centererd around an interesting and interactive curriculum, including a variety of speaking, listening, reading and writing activities, in Spanish. Each session builds on key words and phrases that will help give your child a solid platform to build upon their knowledge of one of the most spoken languages in the world.
The topics covered have been carefully chosen so that learning a foreign language is more pertinent to the children’s own experiences, and can be applied, outside of the classroom, on their family holidays to Spain. It is a big wide world out there, and we want your children to experience not just our culture, but others too. Español es fantastico!
Whole school Spanish day
During out whole school Spanish day children were able to taste a range of different Spanish specialities, in both KS1 and KS2. All classes were given a homemade piñata, to try and break. Children were encouraged to speak in spanish throughout the day and also come to school in spanish colours.
For anyone who is enjoying learning Spanish, but feels that they would like more practice, there is a free APP, called Duolingo. The APP is super fun and colourful, and provides free lessons, revision and tests. The children can make their own profile, track and share their progress; and collect rewards and points. The APP works on a levelling system, providing motivation for the children.
